Let \(\Lambda\) be a (suitable) diagonal cyclic subgroup of \(GL(n+1,k)\) of order \(d\), where \(k\) is an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. Let \(I_d \subset k[x_0,\dots,x_n]\) be the artinian ideal generated by all monomials \(\{m_1,\dots,m_r\}\) of degree \(d\) which are invariant under \(\Lambda\). If \(r \leq \binom{d+n-1}{n-1}\), it is known that \(I_d\) is a monomial Togliatti system (meaning that the \(n\)-dimensional variety \(X_d\) that is the image of the morphism \(\varphi_{I_d} : \mathbb P^n \rightarrow \mathbb P^{r-1}\) defined by \((m_1,\dots,m_r)\) satisfies a Laplace equation of order \(d-1\)) if and only if the apolar ideal to \(I_d\) fails the Weak Lefschetz Property in degree \(d-1\). \(X_d\) is called a GT variety with group \(\Lambda\). The present paper proves that all these GT-varieties are arithmetically Cohen-Macaulay (aCM), and the authors give a combinatorial expression for their Hilbert functions. When \(n=2\) they give a more detailed study of the Hilbert function, Hilbert polynomial and Hilbert series of \(X_d\), and they determine the minimal free resolution of its homogeneous ideal. They also consider more general situations, showing that sometimes the aCM property holds and sometimes it does not.
