The author considers the weakly damped wave equation on \(\mathbb{R}^n\), \[ u_{tt} + u_t - \Delta u = 0, \quad u(0,x) = u_0(x),~~ u_t(0,x) = u_1(x), \] with \(u_0, u_1 \in L^1(\mathbb{R}^n) \cap L^2(\mathbb{R}^n)\). The article presents results on higher order asymptotic expansions of solutions in \(L^2\) for all dimensions \(n\). Of course this article is motivated by the seminal work [\textit{A. Matsumura}, Publ. Res. Inst. Math. Sci. 12, 169--189 (1976; Zbl 0356.35008)]. Of particular note, two results are given in which the order of the expansion depends on \(n\), however, one is able to obtain the integrability of Fourier solution operators in a high frequency region.
