The authors study the drift-diffusion Nernst-Planck system for two ion species coupled through the Poisson equation \(\epsilon\Delta\Phi=z_1c_1+z_2c_2\equiv\rho\), and coupled with the Navier-Stokes equations in two- and three-dimensional domains. The boundary conditions are (physically relevant) either no-flux (blocking) for electrochemical potentials, Dirichlet for the ionic concentrations, or uniform selective conditions on boundary portions, or electroneutral for charge densities. The results are: the charge density \(\rho\) vanishes in the interior of the domain in the long time limit \(t\to\infty\), in the limit of vanishing Debye length, i.e. \[ \lim_{\epsilon\to 0}\lim_{t\to\infty}\sup_{x\in K}|\rho(x,t)|=0 \] on compact subsets \(K\) of the domain.
