The authors define the notion of an entire cyclic cocycle in the setting of \(\theta\)-summable Fredholm modules over locally convex differential graded algebras. The cocycle of interest, an extension of the JLO-cocycle, is defined over an extension of the differential graded algebra of differential forms on a spin manifold by the ``Chern character'' of a Fredholm module constructed from the manifold's Dirac operator. This cocycle makes possible a rigorous interpretation of localization on the loop space \(LX\) of a spin manifold \(X\). E. Witten, L. Alvarez-Gaumé, M.F. Atiyah, and J.-M. Bismut described the significance of such localization for index theory. To pass from constructions on \(X\) to constructions on \(LX\), the authors use the [\textit{E. Getzler} et al., Topology 30, No. 3, 339--371 (1991; Zbl 0729.58004)] extension of the [\textit{K.-T. Chen}, Ann. Math. (2) 97, 217--246 (1973; Zbl 0227.58003); Algebra, Topol, Category Theory; Collect. Pap. Honor S. Eilenberg, 19--32 (1976; Zbl 0341.57034)] iterated integral map to define a map \(\rho _{\epsilon}\) from the complex of entire cyclic chains over an extension of the algebra of differential forms on \(X\) to differential forms on \(LX\). The authors define integration \(I\) on a differential form \(\xi\) in the image of \(\rho _{\epsilon}\) to be the value of the Dirac-operator Fredholm module's Chern character on the preimage of \(\xi\). The localized expression for the value of the integral follows. While it might seem that localization to \(X\) is implicit in a definition based on evaluation over \(X\), the observation that the value is independent of the preimage chosen shows that the construction does indeed rely on objects that can be regarded as ``living on'' \(LX\).
