The authors establish a large deviation principle for certain multiple averages in the multidimensional lattice \(\mathbb{N}^d\), \(d \geq 2\). In particular, an explicit expression for the free energy function of a (multidimensional) multiple sum is derived. Due to differentiability of this free energy function, this also entails an explicit expression for the large deviation rate function of the corresponding multiple average. The same technique is also applied to weighted multiple averages. Finally, boundary conditions are imposed on the multiple sum and explicit formulas for the energy functions under the boundary conditions are obtained.
