The concepts of regularity and regular holonomicity of a module over a ring of differential operators (a D-module) are of great importance in many areas of modern mathematics including partial differential equations, singularity theory, microlocal analysis and numerous others. Hypergeometric PDEs have been since long ago serving as a popular playground and a launch site for a variety of general approaches to the analysis of a system of linear partial differential equations as well as an endless source of neat examples. The paper investigates regularity and holonomicity of an important class of linear systems of partial differential equations with polynomial coefficients, the Horn hypergeometric systems satisfying certain additional technical assumptions. The main results in the paper establish necessary and sufficient conditions for the holonomicity and regular holonomicity of the D-module associated with a normalized Horn system under a hypothesis which captures the most widely studied classical hypergeometric systems of partial differential equations.
