Given a stable model category \(\mathcal C\) with a triangulated homotopy category \(\mathrm{Ho}(\mathcal C)\), one may wonder whether it is possible to recover \(\mathcal C\) up to Quillen equivalence from this triangulated category. One says that \(\mathrm{Ho}(\mathcal C)\) is rigid if this is the case. The interest in this notion comes for example from the fact that if \(\mathrm{Ho}(\mathcal C)\) is rigid, then information such as the homotopy types of mapping spaces in \(\mathcal C\) is determined by the triangulated category \(\mathrm{Ho}(\mathcal C)\). Most prominently, the stable homotopy category is rigid by a theorem of \textit{S. Schwede} [Ann. Math. (2) 166, No. 3, 837--863 (2007; Zbl 1151.55007)]. In the paper under review, the authors show that for any finite group \(G\), an equivariant form of rigidity holds for the \(v_1\)-local \(G\)-equivariant stable homotopy category at the prime \(2\). This means that if \(\mathcal C\) is any cofibrantly generated proper \(G\)-equivariant stable model category whose homotopy category is triangulated equivalent to the homotopy category of orthogonal \(G\)-spectra \(\mathrm{Sp}_G\) equipped with the \(v_1\)-local model structure at the prime \(2\), then \(\mathcal C\) is related to \(\mathrm{Sp}_G\) by a chain of Quillen equivalences. Here it is in addition required that the triangulated equivalence is compatible with the equivariant structure in a suitable way. The proof of this main result partly builds on techniques from an earlier equivariant rigidity result of the first author [Algebr. Geom. Topol. 16, No. 4, 2159--2227 (2016; Zbl 1356.55006)] and an earlier \(K\)-local rigidity result of the second author [Geom. Topol. 11, 1855--1886 (2007; Zbl 1142.55007)]. Based on unpublished work by Franke, the authors also show that the above statement can in general fail for primes \(p \geq 5\).
