In [\textit{H. P. Lotz}, Isr. J. Math. 176, 209--220 (2010; Zbl 1201.46010)] a general criterion for a Banach lattice to be a Grothendieck space was provided. In the paper under review, it is shown how to use that criterion to fully characterize continuous functions \(\psi\) such that the corresponding Marcinkiewicz Banach function space \(M_{\psi}\) is a Grothendieck space.
