A Tychonoff space \(X\) is called (sequentially) Ascoli if every compact subset (resp. convergent sequence) of \(C_k(X)\) is evenly continuous (resp. equicontinuous), where \(C_k(X)\) denotes the space of all real-valued continuous functions on \(X\) endowed with the compact-open topology, see [\textit{S. Hernández} and \textit{V. Uspenskij}, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 242, No. 2, 135--144 (2000; Zbl 0942.54013)]. In this paper, the author further develops the investigation of Ascoli and sequentially Ascoli spaces, where he has already accomplished a series of earlier papers. Some sample results are: (1) every hereditarily Ascoli space is Fréchet-Urysohn; (2) the product of a locally compact space and an Ascoli space is Ascoli. Furthermore, if in addition \(X\) is a \(\mu\)-space, then \(X\) is locally compact if and only if the product of \(X\) with any Ascoli space is an Ascoli space; (3) extending some results accomplished previously, it is proved that \(C_p(X)\) is sequentially Ascoli if and only if \(X\) has the property (\(\kappa\)).
