The nonlinear superposition operator \(S_\varphi(f):= \varphi\circ f\) generated by some function \(\varphi\) has been studied in many function spaces, both real and complex. Consider, for example, the space \(H^p\) of all analytic functions \(f: \mathbb{D}\to\mathbb{D}\) for which the norm \(\Vert f\Vert_p:= \sup\{M_p(r, f): 0<r< 1\}\) is finite, where \[M_p(r,f):= \begin{cases} \left(\frac{1}{2\pi} \int^{2\pi}_0 |f(re^{i\theta})|^p\,d\theta\right)^{1/p}\qquad &\text{for}\quad 0<p<\infty,\\ \max\{|f(z)|:|z|= r\}\qquad &\text{for}\quad p=\infty\end{cases}\] is finite. It was shown by \textit{G. A. Cámera} [Contemp. Math. 189, 103--116 (1995; Zbl 0841.30023)] that the operator \(S_\varphi\) maps \(H^p\) into \(H^q\) iff \(\varphi\) is a polynomial of degree at most \(p/q\). In this paper, the authors solve the analogous problem in the space \(H(p,q,\alpha)\) whose norm is defined for \(0<p\), \(q\le\infty\) and \(\alpha> 0\) by \[ \Vert f\Vert_{p,q,\alpha}:= \begin{cases} \left(\int^1_0(1-r)^{\alpha q-1} M^q_p(r,f)\,dr\right)^{1/q}\qquad &\text{for}\quad 0<q<\infty,\\ \sup\{(1-r)^\alpha M_p(r,f): 0\le r<1\}\qquad &\text{for}\quad q=\infty.\end{cases} \] More precisely, they show that \(S_\varphi(H(p,q, \alpha))\subseteq H(s,t,\beta)\) if and only if \(\varphi\) is a polynomial, where the dependence of the degree of \(\varphi\) on \(p\), \(q\), \(s\), \(t\), \(\alpha\) and \(\beta\) is exactly described. In this case, the operator \(S_\varphi\) is automatically hounded and continuous.
