Continuing their joint work with Albanese from recent years, the authors investigate projective and inductive limits (in the category of locally convex spaces) of the Banach spaces \[ \text{ces}(p)=\left\{(x_n)_{n\in\mathbb N}\in\mathbb C^{\mathbb N}: \left(\frac 1n \sum_{k=1}^n|x_k|\right)_{n\in\mathbb N}\in\ell_p\right\} \] and their duals (with \(p\) replaced by the conjugate exponent) \[ d(p)=\left\{(x_n)_{n\in\mathbb N}\in \ell_\infty: \left(\sup\{|x_k|:k\ge n\}\right)_{n\in\mathbb N}\in\ell_p\right\}. \] They thus obtain Fréchet spaces ces\((p+)=\bigcap_{q>p}\text{ces}(q)\) and \(d(p+)=\bigcap_{q>p} d(q)\) as well as LB-spaces ces\((p-)=\bigcup_{q<p}\text{ces}(q)\) and \(d(p-)=\bigcup_{q<p} d(q)\) which behave quite differently than their classical analogues \(\ell_{p+}\) and \(\ell_{q-}\). For example, ces\((p+)\) are Fréchet-Schwartz spaces which, independently of \(p\in[1,\infty)\), are isomorphic to a non-nuclear power series space of finite type. All these spaces have unconditional Schauder bases but no absolute basis.
