In the setting of several hypercomplex variables a class of functions termed weak slice regular is introduced on the n-dimensional quadratic cone of octonions \(\mathbb{O}_s^n\). Used is a generalization to \(\mathbb{O}_s^n\) of the slice-topology \(\tau_s\) introduced in the space of quaternions in [the first three authors, ``Extension theorem and representation formula in non-axially symmetric domains for slice regular functions'', Preprint, \url{arXiv:2003.10487}]. Weak slice regular functions are a generalization of slice regular functions as defined in [the second and the fourth author, Math. Methods Appl. Sci. 43, No. 9, 6031--6042 (2020; Zbl 1451.30095)] which the authors term strong slice regular. The two classes of functions coincide on axially symmetric domains in the slice topology. The manuscript begins by including some basic definitions in octonionic slice analysis as in [Zbl 1451.30095]. Then the authors generalize slice functions on axially symmetric open sets to any subset in \(\mathbb{O}_s^n\). Next is the definition of slice function with a version of the representation formula. Then strong slice regular functions are introduced followed by the definition of the slice topology on \(\mathbb{O}_s^n\) and the notion of weak slice regular functions on open sets in the slice topology \(\tau_s\). Some properties of weak slice functions are proved including their expansion in Taylor series on slice-polydiscs. Lastly given is an example of a weak slice regular function which is not (and cannot be extended to) a strong slice regular function.
