Let \(G\) be a countable discrete torsion free group, and let \(\mu_R^L: H_*(BG,\mathbf K_R)\to K_*(R[G])\) (resp. \(\mu^{\mathrm{BC}}\)) denote the Loday assembly map with coefficients in \(R\) (resp. the Baum-Connes assembly map), where \(BG\) is the classifying space of \(G\) and \(\mathbf K_R\) is the nonconnective algebraic \(K\)-theory spectrum of \(R\). It is shown that if \(\mu^{\mathrm{BC}}\) is (split) injective for \(G\) then \(\mu_{\mathbb K}^L\) and \(\mu_{\mathcal S}^L\) are (split) injective for \(G\), where \(\mathbb K\) and \(\mathcal S\) denote the algebras of compact operators and of Schatten class operators respectively. Under the assumption that the \(\mathbb Z/n\)-homology of \(BG\) is concentrated in even degrees, it is shown that \(\mu_{\mathbb C}^L: H_*(BG,\mathbf K_R;\mathbb Z/n)\to K_*(R[G];\mathbb Z/n)\) is injective if \(\mu^{\mathrm{BC}}\) is split injective.
