This paper is devoted to the Hölder exponents of self-affine similar functions on the interval \([0,1]\). The author notes that the Hölder exponent is one of the most important local smoothness characteristics of functions. The attention is given to certain fractal functions. There are considered some continuous nowhere differentiable and singular (i.e., functions whose derivative equals zero almost everywhere) functions. A brief survey on some auxiliary investigations with references is given. One can note the following items considered in the survey: \begin{itemize} \item[--] some examples of non-differentiable and singular functions (e.g, the Cantor, Weierstrass, van der Waerden, Takagi (or Takagi-Landsberg) functions, etc., are considered); \item[--] fractal curves in various function spaces; \item[--] certain properties of self-similar functions; \item[--] the construction of self-affine similar functions and their some properties; \end{itemize} The section ``Continuous affinely self-similar functions'' deals with researches, that are useful for obtaining the main results. The main results on the Hölder condition for the self-similar functions are proved in the section ``Hölder continuity of self-similar functions''. Also, the author pays the attention on closed-form expressions for the Hölder exponents via the self-similarity parameters. The definition of a function satisfying the Hölder condition with exponent \(\alpha\in (0,1]\), is given. The Lipschitz condition, the Lipschitz space, and the self-similarity condition are noted. In addition, investigations of some examples of fractal functions are illustrated by obtained results.
