    The paper generalizes work on the transform operator \(\tau^{y}\) introduced in [\textit{H. Mejjaoli} and \textit{K. Trimèche}, Integral Transforms Spec. Funct. 12, No. 3, 279--302 (2001; Zbl 1027.47026)] -- \textbf{Note:} the authors mention this journal, page numbers, year of publication and authors, but with a quite different title -- and studied in [\textit{S. S. Platonov}, Izv. Math. 71, No. 5, 1001--1048 (2007; Zbl 1135.41015); translation from Izv. Ross. Akad. Nauk, Ser. Mat. 71, No. 5, 149--196 (2007)]. The authors proved (with \textit{S. Yu. Tikhonov}) in [Constr. Approx. 49, No. 3, 555--605 (2019; Zbl 1416.42007)] -- \textbf{Note}: the authors state in their reference the page numbers 1--51 and year of publication 2018 -- that it is a positive \(L^{p}\)-bounded operator, which can be considered as a generalized translation operator. After having defined integer powers of the Dunkl Laplacian, moduli of smoothness and a \(K\)-functional in the paper with Tikhonov loc.cit., equivalence between these, weighted analogs of inequalities for entire spherical functions of exponential type, the two authors study in the paper under review \textit{fractional powers} of the quantities mentioned and give direct and inverse approximation theorems and equivalence of the `new' moduli of smoothness and \(K\)-functionals. The layout of the paper is as follows: \begin{itemize} \item[\S1.] Introduction (historical overview, some notations) \item[\S2.] Notation and elements of Dunkl harmonic analysis (a full page of further notations included) \item[\S3.] Best approximation, smoothness characteristics and the \(K\)-functional \item[\S4.] Jackson's inequality and equivalence of the modulus of smoothness and \(K\)-functionals (contains the main results in Theorems 4.1 and 4.2) \item[\S5.] Some inequalities for entire functions (quantitive estomates of norms of entire functions in Theorem 5.2) \item[\S6.] The realization of the \(K\)-functional and the moduli of smoothness \item[\S7.] Inverse theorems of approximation theory \item[] References (\(40\) items) \end{itemize}
