With inspiration from physical Chern-Simons path integral formulation, it is predicted that certain terms from an asymptotic expansion of the quantum \(\mathrm{SU}(2)\) invariant of a 3-manifold are given by Reidemeister torsions of the manifold. Let \(M_{p}\) be the hyperbolic manifold obtained by \(p\)-surgery along the figure-8 knot in \(S^{3}\), where \(p\) is an integer with \(|p|>4\). In [Algebr. Geom. Topol. 18, No. 7, 4187--4274 (2018; Zbl 1490.57021)] the first author has computed a term \(\omega(M_{p})\) in an asymptotic expansion of the quantum invariant of \(M_{p}\). In this paper the authors compute the Reidemeister torsion \(\text{Tor}(M_{p})\) associated with the adjoint of the holonomy representation of \(M_{p}\), and verify that \[ \omega(M_{p})^{2}=\pm\frac{1}{16\pi^{2}}\text{Tor}(M_{p}). \] For a manifold \(M_{p_{1},p_{2}}\) obtained by surgery along a certain framed link, the authors obtain a similar result, by being able to calculate the quantum invariant, the Chern-Simons invariant, and the Reidemeister torsion of \(M_{p_{1},p_{2}}\).
