The authors study $p$-Laplace type systems of the form \[ -\operatorname{div}(A(x,Du))=f,\quad\text{in }\Omega, \tag{1} \] assuming $|A(x,\xi)|+|\partial_uA(x,\xi)||\xi|\leq L|\xi|p-1$, where $p\in(1,2]$, among other hypothesis, $\Omega$ is a bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^N$, $u:\Omega\to\mathbb{R}^m$ with $N, m\geq2$. In the present paper, the authors assume Dini type continuity in the first variable of the vector field A, and obtain $C^1$-regularity a.e. of solutions to such problems via Riesz potentials whenever $f$ is in the Lorenz space $L(n,1)$. \textit{G. Mingione} in [J. Eur. Math. Soc. (JEMS) 13, No. 2, 459--486 (2011; Zbl 1217.35077)] proved that, surprisingly, the gradient of solutions of quasilinear problems can be estimated via Riesz potentials. In this paper, the authors obtain gradient Riesz potential estimates for nonlinear elliptic systems with subquadratic growth.
