Let \(\Omega\) be a set equipped with a \(\sigma\)-algebra \(\Sigma\), \(X\) be a real Banach lattice and \(m: \Sigma \to X\) be a positive (i.e., taking values in the positive cone of \(X\)) countably additive vector measure. \(L_p(m)\), where \(1 \leq p < \infty\), denotes the space of (classes of) those \(\Sigma\)-measurable functions \(f: \Omega \to \mathbb R\) such that \(|f|^p\) is integrable with respect to \(m\). This space is equipped with the norm \[ \| f\| = \left\|\int_\Omega | f|^p \,d \, m \right\|^{1/p}. \] The paper under review is devoted to connections between the smoothness properties of \(X\) and the corresponding \(L_p(m)\). In particular, it is demonstrated that, for \(1 < p < \infty\), the Gâteaux smoothness, Fréchet smoothness, or uniform Fréchet smoothness of \(X\) implies the same property of \(L_p(m)\). This extends the results of and answers an open question from the previous article by the authors [Monatsh. Math. 178, No. 3, 329--343 (2015; Zbl 1345.46019)]. Some applications to a Bishop-Phelps-Bollobás property for operators and for bilinear forms are listed.
