The authors consider the orthogonal polynomials of two variables \[ ``P_{n,k}(x,y;a,b,c,d;q):=P_{n-k}(y;a,bcq^{2k+1},dq^k;q)y^k(dq/y;q)_kP_k(x/y;c,b,d/y;q)\;(n\geq 0;\;k=0,1,\ldots,n) \] where \(q\in(0,1)\), \(0<aq,bq,cq<1\), \(d<0\), and \(P_m(t;\alpha,\beta,\gamma;q)\) are univariate big \(q\)-Jacobi polynomials''. Polynomials \(P_{n,k}(x,y;a,b,c,d;q)\) were introduced and studied in [\textit{S. Lewanowicz} and \textit{P. Woźny}, J. Comput. Appl. Math. 233, No. 6, 1554--1561 (2010; Zbl 1190.33018)]. In this paper the authors continue these studies and obtain further results. The main result of this paper is Theorem 3.3, which describes the structure relations for \(P_{n,k}(x,y;a,b,c,d;q)\): \[ "\sigma^{\pm}_1 D_{q^{\pm1},x}P_n=F^{\pm}_{n,1}P_{n+1}+G^{\pm}_{n,1}P_n+H^{\pm}_{n,1}P_{n-1}, \] \[ \sigma^{\pm}_2 D_{q^{\pm 1},y}P_n=F^{\pm}_{n,2}P_{n+1}+G^{\pm}_{n,2}P_n+H^{\pm}_{n,2}P_{n-1}, \] where \(\sigma^{\pm}_i\) are certain polynomials of total degree 2'', ''\(D_{q^{\pm 1},x}\) and \(D_{q^{\pm 1},y}\) are partial \(q\)-derivative operators'', \(P_n=[P_{n,0},\ldots,P_{n,n}]^T\) and ''\(F^{\pm}_{n,i}\), \(G^{\pm}_{n,i}\) and \(H^{\pm}_{n,i}\) (\(i=1,2\)) are tridiagonal matrices of appropriate dimensions.'' In addition, the authors consider the case \(d=0\), that is the polynomials case of \(P_{n,k}(x,y;a,b,c,0;q)\), and they prove the structure relations in that case, as well.
