Let \({\mathcal H}_n(Q,q)\) be the Hecke algebra of type \(B\) over an algebraically closed field of characteristic \(\ell\). Let \(e\) be the multiplicative order of \(q\not=1\) and let \(\mathfrak g\) be the Kac-Moody Lie algebra of type \(A_{e-1}^{(1)}\), \(\{\Lambda_i\mid i\in{\mathbb Z}/e{\mathbb Z}\}\) the set of fundamental weights. In the paper under review the authors realize the Kashiwara crystal \(B(\Lambda_i)\) on the set of \(e\)-restricted partitions. They establish a purely Young diagrammatic criterion for an element of \(B(\Lambda_0)^{\otimes d_1}\otimes B(\Lambda_m)^{\otimes d_2}\) to be in the component \(B(d_1\Lambda_0+d_2\Lambda_m)\). As an application, the authors give a non-recursive characterization of simple modules of the algebra \({\mathcal H}_n(Q,q)\). When \(\lambda\otimes \mu\) is in \(B(\Lambda_0+\Lambda_m)\) the bipartition \((\mu,\lambda)\) is called Kleshchev. The paper contains a non-recursive characterization of the Kleshchev bipartitions in terms of some explicit operations. It contains also a construction of the corresponding simple module.
