The gluing problems for various spectral invariants are interesting topics. Basic setting here is: given a partitioned compact manifold \(M=M_-\cup M_+\), where \(M_-,M_+\) are manifolds with boundary, describe the geometric and spectral invariants of Dirac operators on \(M\) in terms of the invariants on \(M_\mp\) with suitable boundary conditions. The gluing problem for the index was first solved by \textit{M. F. Atiyah, V. K. Patodi} and \textit{I. M. Singer} [Math. Proc. Camb. Philos. Soc. 77, 43--69 (1975; Zbl 0297.58008)] as a corollary of their APS index theorem for manifolds with boundary. The gluing problem for the eta invariant was first solved by \textit{U. Bunke} in 1995 [J. Differ. Geom. 41, No. 2, 397--448 (1995; Zbl 0821.58037)], and there are many proofs now. In previous related works, various authors studied the defendant problem of the \(\zeta\)-determinant with two different boundary conditions over a single manifold with boundary, and the corresponding adiabatic decomposition formula. In this paper, the authors solve the gluing problem for the \(\zeta\)-determinant with global boundary condition. Here by introducing a spectral parameter \(\lambda\) and relying the relative trace of resolvents to the operator depends on the Cauchy data spaces, then they study the asymptotics when \(\lambda\to 0\) and \(\Im \lambda\to\infty\) to get the exact gluing formula.
