This paper deals with Hopf bifurcation from relative equilibria with trivial isotropy in systems with \(\text{SO}(3)\) symmetry. The author studies skew product systems as derived in [\textit{B. Sandstede}, \textit{A. Scheel} and \textit{C. Wulff}, J. Differ. Equations 141, No. 1, 122--149 (1997; Zbl 0888.35053)]. To simplify the skew product, a normal form reduction developed in [\textit{B. Fiedler} and \textit{D. Turaev}, Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 145, No. 2, 129--159 (1998; Zbl 0957.37026)] has been applied. Then the cases of nonresonances and resonances between Hopf and rotation frequencies are distinguished. While the nonresonance case allows ``straightforward computations'', the resonance case calls for some extra effort. In both cases the motion of the modulated rotating wave is discussed.
