This is a beautiful review of contributions in field theories on deformed spaces. After recalling some popular existing models for noncommutative spacetime, which include classical action functionals and quantum field theoretical investigations the review goes over into the power-counting analysis of field theories on the Moyal plane in momentum space. This is followed by the author's recent renormalization proof of noncommutative \(\phi^4\)-theory, based on renormalization group techniques for dynamical matrix models. After an introduction, some models for noncommutative space(-time) are considered. The classical field theory is treated in the next section, which is followed by regularization in section 4 and renormalization in section 5. In the sixth and final section the problem of renormalization of noncommutative \(\phi^4\)-theory to all orders is dealt with in detail. Pictorial representation adds to the value of the paper. There is a long list of 180 references in this review-paper consisting of many precious approaches to field theories on deformed space which provides quite a rich area for theoretical studies stressing on the high energy physics and the geometrical picture of nature at the microscopic level. The present scenario relating to efforts in evolving and understanding the possibly final theory of everything is alluded to while appreciating the great achievements of the relativistic quantum field theories of the universe at the fundamental strata of knowledge.
