Let \(X\) be a Banach space. A subset \(A \subset X^*\) is called weak\(^*\)-thick if it cannot be represented as a non-decreasing countable union of non-norming subsets of \(X^*\). Complementing a theorem by \textit{V. P. Fonf} from [Math. Notes 45, No.~6, 488--494 (1989; Zbl 0699.46010)] the authors prove that \(A\) is weak\(^*\)-thick if and only if for every measure space \((\Omega, \Sigma, \mu)\) every essentially separably valued function \(f:\Omega \to X\) that is integrable on every \(x^* \in A\) is integrable on every \(x^* \in X^*\). Weak\(^*\)-thick tests for weakly unconditionally Cauchy sequences and for vector measure boundedness are given. A relation of thickness to barrelled normed spaces is shown.
