The classification of Hopf algebras is a highly non-trivial problem. A natural step is to divide Hopf algebras into families, for instance according to their algebra or coalgebra structure. Much work has been done in the study of semisimple Hopf algebras, i.e., Hopf algebras whose underlying algebra is semisimple. They are always finite-dimensional. \textit{I. Kaplansky} conjectured in [Bialgebras. Chicago, IL: University of Chicago, Department of Mathematics (1975; Zbl 1311.16029)] that the dimension of a simple module of a semisimple Hopf algebra \(H\) always divides the dimension of \(H\). We assume here that the base field is algebraically closed and of characteristic zero. The present paper is an account on recent results related to Kaplansky's sixth conjecture, with a view toward the classification of semisimple Hopf algebras and attention to the broader context of fusion categories.
