Orlicz-Legendre ellipsoids (Q2631040)

The authors focus on star bodies in \(\mathbb{R}^{n}\), endowed with an Orlicz-type structure. They solve the following optimum problem: given a star body in this framework, find an ellipsoid, among all origin symmetric ellipsoids of normalized dual Orlicz mixed volume not exceeding unity, that has the minimum volume. The existence and uniqueness of such an ellipsoid is proved, calling it the Orlicz-Legendre ellipsoid of the given star body. Some properties of this ellipsoid are studied: relation with the initial star-body, continuity and characterization in terms of isotropy of measures. More volume ratio inequalities are derived.
