Genus 0 characteristic numbers of the~tropical~projective plane (English)

The authors prove a correspondence theorem relating genus \(0\) characteristic numbers of the projective plane to their tropical counterparts. They study the combinatorics of the tropical enumerative problem, relating characteristic numbers to open Hurwitz numbers. This is the first instance of a correspondence theorem involving tangency conditions and demonstrates nicely the feasibility of the tropical approach in enumerative geometry.
