Alexandrov spaces are synthetic generalizations of complete Riemannian manifolds with a lower sectional curvature bound. In addition to providing a useful tool for the study of global problems in Riemannian geometry (e.g., pinching or collapse), they also constitute a class of metric spaces of intrinsic interest. In this paper, the author discusses the topology and geometry of closed Alexandrov spaces of dimension three.
