A criterion on the hyponormality of Toeplitz operators with polynomial symbols via Schur numbers (Q417495)

The authors consider Toeplitz operators \(T_\phi\), where \(\phi\) is a trigonometric polynomial symbol of the form \(\phi=\bar g+h\), where \(g,h\in H^2\) and \(g\) divides \(h\). Using a criterion of the contractivity for the inverse of a lower triangular Toeplitz matrix via Schur numbers of an induced analytic polynomial, a complete characterization on the hyponormality of \(T_\phi\) is given.
