    The following \(p\)-Laplacian problem is studied \[ \begin{gathered} \left(\left|u'\right|^{p-2}u'\right)'+\lambda a(x) \varphi_{p}(u)+F(x,u,\lambda)=0, \quad x \in (0,1), \\ u(0)=u(1)=0,\end{gathered} \] where \(1<p<+\infty\), \(\varphi_{p}(u)=\left|u\right|^{p-2}u\), \(\lambda\) is a parameter, \(a\in C[0,1]\) is positive and \(F:\left(0,1\right)\times \mathbb{R}^{2} \rightarrow \mathbb{R}\) is a continuos function. Moreover, the nonlinear term \(F\) has the form \(F=f+g\), where \(f\) and \(g\) satisfy the conditions: \(\left(C1\right) \left|f\left(x,s,\lambda\right)\right|\leq M \left|\varphi_{p}(s)\right|\) for all \(x \in (0,1)\), \(0< \left|s\right|\leq 1\) and \(\lambda \in \mathbb{R}\), where \(M\) is a positive constant; \(\left(C1\right) g(x,s, \lambda)=o\left(\left|s\right|^{p-1}\right)\) near \(s=0\), uniformly in \(x \in (0,1)\) and on bounded \(\lambda\) intervals. A unilateral global bifurcation result for the given problem is established. By applying this result, the spectrum of a class of half-quasilinear problems is studied. Moreover, the existence of nodal solutions for a class of half-quasilinear eigenvalue problems is investigated.
