The classification or the existence of indecomposable vector bundles on projective manifolds is one of the most important but difficult problems in the theory of vector bundles. The paper under review completely solves this problem for rank two indecomposable Fano bundles \(\mathcal{E}\) on Fano manifolds \(X\) satisfying \(H^2(X, \mathbb{Z})=H^4(X, \mathbb{Z})=\mathbb{Z}\). Roughly speaking, the authors prove that such a bundle \(\mathcal{E}\) is the pull-back of the universal quotient bundle on a Grassmannian \(\mathbb{G}(1,m)\) by a finite map \(\psi : X \rightarrow \mathbb{G}(1,m)\), and they precisely classify all possible cases for \(\psi\). The argument for the proof is as follows. They first recall the classification of Fano bundles \(\mathcal{E}\) whose projectivization \(\mathbb{P}(\mathcal{E})\) has two different \(\mathbb{P}^1\)-bundle structures, which was obtained in their previous paper [\textit{R. Munoz} et al., Kyoto J. Math. 54, No. 1, 167--197 (2014; Zbl 1295.14038)]. If this is not the case, then \(\mathbb{P}(\mathcal{E})\) has either a conic bundle structure or a divisorial contraction. The authors finally treat the two remaining cases in detail by computing discrete invariants of \(\mathcal{E}\) and \(X\) as well as the new and pseudo effective cones of \(\mathbb{P}(\mathcal{E})\). As a by-product, they show that the variety of minimal rational tangents of the congruence of trisect lines to an isomorphic projection of a Severi variety has three linear components. This gives a negative answer to two problems posed by \textit{J.-M. Hwang} and \textit{N. Mok} [Asian J. Math. 8, No. 1, 51--64 (2004; Zbl 1072.14015)].
