Let \(f:X\to Y\) be a surjective morphism of smooth complex projective varieties with connected fibers. The Iitaka Conjecture predicts that \(\kappa (X)\geq \kappa (Y)+\kappa (X/Y)\) where \(\kappa (X/Y)\) denotes the Kodaira dimension of a general fiber of \(f\). Recall that the Kodaira dimension \(\kappa (X)\) denotes the maximum dimension of the image of \(X\) via the pluricanonical maps \(X\dasharrow |mK_X|\) for all \(m>0\) (if \(|mK_X|=\emptyset\) for all \(m>0\) then we say that \(\kappa (X)=-\infty\)). In this paper the authors prove the Iitaka Conjecture when \(Y\) is an abelian variety. It should be noted that the authors actually prove a stronger version of this result that applies to klt pairs.
