The authors consider the Cauchy problem \[ u_{t}-\Delta u=|u|^{p-1}u,\;\;x\in {\mathbb R}^{n}, \;p=\frac{n+2}{n-2}, \;\;u(x,0)=u_{0}(x). \eqno{(1)} \] The ground state solitary wave here is the function \(Q=(1+\frac{|x|^{2}}{n(n-2)})^{(2-n)/2}\). The main result of the article is the following classification of the flow near the ground state. If the norm \(\|\nabla(u_{0}-Q(x))\|_{L_{2}({\mathbb R}^{n})}\) is sufficiently small and \(n\geq 7\) then one of the following possibilities holds: 1. the solution is global and asymptotically attracted by a solitary wave, i.e., there exist \((\lambda,z)\in {\mathbb R}^{+}\times {\mathbb R}^{n}:\;\|\nabla(u(t,x)-\lambda^{(2-n)/2}Q((x-z)/\lambda))\|_{L_{2}({\mathbb R}^{n})}\to 0\) as \(t\to +\infty\); 2. the solution is global and dissipates, in particular, \(\|\nabla u\|_{L_{2}({\mathbb R}^{n})}+\|u\|_{L_{\infty}({\mathbb R}^{n})}\to 0 \) as \(t\to +\infty\); 3. the solution blows up in finite time \(0 < T < +\infty\) and \(\|u(x,t)\|_{L_{\infty}({\mathbb R}^{n})}\sim (T-t)^{(2-n)/2}\) near \(t=T\).
