The paper treats a Hamiltonian action of the unitary group \(U(2)\) or its maximal torus on a Kähler manifold and its reduction. The author focuses on the case where a compact and connected Kähler manifold admits a Hamiltonian \(U(2)\)-action with nowhere vanishing moment map, and investigates its reduction by the cone over a coadjoint orbit in the dual of the Lie algebra. The author calls such a reduction a conic reduction and provides concrete examples of it. \medskip The paper consists of four sections. Section 1 is a short introduction. The research background is also explained in detail. Section 2 discusses transversality of the moment map. The author provides some criteria of intersecting transversally with the cone of the integral orbits (Theorem 2.1--2.4). Basing on Section 2, a conic reduction is discussed in detail in Section 3 and 4.
