\textit{S. Gelaki} [J. Algebra 480, 505--518 (2017; Zbl 1405.18012)] introduced the notion of exact factorization for fusion categories generalizing the classical concept of finite groups. Let \(\mathcal B\) a finite tensor category over \(k\) and \(\mathcal A\) and \(\mathcal C\) two tensor subcategories, the category \({\mathcal A}{\mathcal C}\subseteq {\mathcal B}\) is the indecomposable exact \({\mathcal A}\otimes {\mathcal C}^{op}\)-module subcategory of \(\mathcal B\) generated by \(\mathbf 1\). When \({\mathcal B}= {\mathcal A}{\mathcal C}\), then it is said that \(\mathcal A\) factorizes as product of \(\mathcal A\) and \(\mathcal C\). The factorizations is exact if \({\mathcal A}\cap {\mathcal C}=Vec\). Different characterizations of these factorizations are given. Next, the authors consider the situation of factorizations of quasi-Hopf algebras. The relations between the exact factorizations and exact sequences of finite tensor categories are studied. Finally, it is shown that any extension of a finite group scheme theoretical tensor category by another one is Morita equivalent to a tensor category with an exact factorization into a product of two group scheme theoretical subcategories. The results of this paper extend to finite (not necessarily semisimple) tensor categories the obtained in the mentioned paper.
