The authors show, in the Hermitian case, that \(\{\{f(B_{n,m})\};m\in\mathbb N\}\) is an approximation class of sequences (ACS) for \(\{f(A_n)\}\) if \(\{\{B_m\}; m\in\mathbb N\}\) is an ACS for \(\{A_n\}\), where \(\{A_n\}\) is sparseley unbounded and \(f\) is a suitable continuous function defined on \(\mathbb R\). This result enlarges the set of tools for proving the existence and explicitly chracterizing the limit distribution of eignvalues for general matrix sequences, and hence is of interest for concrete applications of Krylov's convergence analysis.
