Let \(0<p,q<\infty\), let \(A_2\) be the Bergman space of the unit disk, and let \(S_p(A_2)\) be the Schatten class with the norm \(\|\cdot\|_p\). Put \(I_j=[2^j-1,2^{j+1})\cap{\mathbb Z}_+\) for \(j\in{\mathbb Z}_+=\{0,1,2,\dots\}\) and consider the projection \((\Delta_j f)(z)=\sum_{n\in I_j}a_n z^n\) for \(f(z)=\sum_{n\in{\mathbb Z}_+} a_nz^n\). The class \(S(p,q)\) consists of all bounded operators \(T\) on \(A_2\) such that \[ \left(\sum_{j\in{\mathbb Z}_+}\|T\Delta_j\|_p^q\right)^{1/q}<\infty, \] and the class \(K(p,q)\) consists of all bounded positive operators \(T\) such that \[ \left(\sum_{j\in{\mathbb Z}_+}\left(\sum_{n\in I_j}|\langle T^pe_n,e_n\rangle|\right)^{q/p}\right)^{1/q}<\infty, \] where \(\{e_n\}_{n\in{\mathbb Z}_+}\) is the canonical orthonormal basis of \(A_2\). The Kellogg space \(\ell(p,q)\) is the set of all sequences \((\lambda_n)_{n\in{\mathbb Z}_+}\) such that \[ \|(\lambda_n)\|_{\ell(p,q)}=\left(\sum_{j\in{\mathbb Z}_+}\left(\sum_{n\in I_j}|\lambda_n|^p\right)^{q/p}\right)^{1/q}<\infty. \] For \(\alpha\in{\mathbb R}\), define the mixed norm space \(L^{p,q,\alpha}\) as the set of all measurable functions \(f\) in the unit disk such that \[ \|f\|_{L^{p,q,\alpha}}=\left(\int_0^1(1-r^2)^{q\alpha-1}M_p^q(f,r)\,dr\right)^{1/q}<\infty, \] where \(M_p(f,r)=\left(\int_0^{2\pi}|f(re^{i\theta})|^p\frac{d\theta}{2\pi}\right)^{1/p}\). All these definitions admit obvious modifications for \(p,q=\infty\). Among other things, the following statements are proved. Theorem 4. If \(1\leq p<\infty\), then \(S(p,p)\) coincides with \(S_p(A_2)\) with equivalent norms. Theorem 8. For a positive compact operator \(T\) on \(A_2\) and \(0<q<\infty\), the following statements are equivalent: (i) \(T\in S(1,q)\); (ii) \((\langle Te_n,e_n\rangle)_{n\in{\mathbb Z}_+}\in\ell(1,q)\); (iii) \((1-|z|^2)^{-\beta}\widetilde{T}\in L^{1,q,\alpha}\) for any \(\beta-\alpha=1\), where \(\widetilde{T}\) denotes the Berezin transform of \(T\). Theorem 9. For a bounded operator \(T\) on \(A_2\) and \(0<q<\infty\), the following statements are equivalent: (i) \(T\in S(2,q)\); (ii) \((\|Te_n\|)_{n\in{\mathbb Z}_+}\in\ell(2,q)\); (iii) \(T^*T\in S(1,q/2)\); \((1-|z|^2)^{-\beta}f_T\in L^{2,q,\alpha}\) for \(\beta-\alpha=1/2\), where \(f_T(z)=\|T(k_z)\|\) and \(k_z\) is the normalized Bergman kernel. Relations of Toeplitz operators in \(S(p,q)\) with the Schatten-Herz classes \(S_{p,q}\) are also studied. In particular, it is proved that, for a Toeplitz operator with non-negative integrable symbol, one has (i) \(T_\varphi\in S(1,q)\) if and only if \(T_\varphi\in S_{1,q}\); (ii) if \(T_\varphi\in K(p,q)\) for \(1\leq p,q<\infty\), then \(T_\varphi\in S_{p,q}\).
