Cluster algebras were introduced by \textit{S. Fomin} and \textit{A. Zelevinsky} [J. Am. Math. Soc. 15, No. 2, 497--529 (2002; Zbl 1021.16017)] in connection with dual canonical bases. In the paper under review, the author studies gradings for cluster algebras. Let \((\underline{x},B)\) be a seed where \(\underline{x}=(X_1,\dots,X_n)\) is a transcendence base of the field \(\mathbb{Q}(x_1,\dots,x_n)\) and \(B\) is an \(n\times n\) skew-symmetric integer matrix. If an \(n\times d\) integer matrix \(G\) satisfies \(B^{T}G=0\), then \((\underline{x},B,G)\) is called a multi-graded seed, and the degrees of variables \(X_i\) are defined to be the \(i\)th row of \(G\) respectively. Note that the cluster algebra \(\mathcal{A}(\underline{x},B,G)\) is a \(\mathbb{Z}^{d}\)-graded algebra which is called a graded cluster algebra. For finite-type cluster algebras without coefficients, the author gives a complete classification of the gradings in this case and observes that there is a bijection between the set of cluster variables of degree \(\underline{v}\) and those of degree \(-\underline{v}\) for each \(\underline{v}\in \mathbb{Z}^{d}\). Next, the author lifts the notion of gradings to the generalized cluster categories and proves that the above bijection exists in any cluster algebra admitting a cluster categorification. Moreover, tropical friezes on these graded generalized cluster category can be obtained.
