Abstract: Given a nontrivial positive measure mu on the unit circle, the associated Christoffel-Darboux kernels are Kn(z,w;mu)=sumk=0noverlinevarphik(w;mu),varphik(z;mu), ngeq0, where varphik(cdot;mu) are the orthonormal polynomials with respect to the measure mu. Let the positive measure u on the unit circle be given by du(z)=|G2m(z)|,dmu(z), where G2m is a conjugate reciprocal polynomial of exact degree 2m. We establish a determinantal formula expressing Kn(z,w;u)ngeq0 directly in terms of Kn(z,w;mu)ngeq0. Furthermore, we consider the special case of w=1; it is known that appropriately normalized polynomials Kn(z,1;mu) satisfy a recurrence relation whose coefficients are given in terms of two sets of real parameters cn(mu)n=1infty and gn(mu)n=1infty, with 0<gn<1 for ngeq1. The double sequence (cn(mu),gn(mu))n=1infty characterizes the measure mu. A natural question about the relation between the parameters cn(mu), gn(mu), associated with mu, and the sequences cn(u), gn(u), corresponding to u, is also addressed. Finally, examples are considered, such as the Geronimus weight (a measure supported on an arc of the unit circle), a class of measures given by basic hypergeometric functions, and a class of measures with hypergeometric orthogonal polynomials.
