Resonances as a computational tool

From MaRDI portal

There exists computationally efficient methods for solving nonlinear dispersive equations, e.g., the nonlinear Schrödinger, Korteweg-de Vries equations with smooth solutions. In this survey article, the recent developments in so-called resonance based schemes are revived for solving non-smooth for dispersive equations. The main idea behind the novel technique is explained on the basic test example of cubic, periodic Schrödinger equation. The structure preservation of splitting methods and exponential interators are discussed in detail for dispersive equations with low regularity.
