Semi-linear evolution equations via positive semigroups

From MaRDI portal

Let \(E\) be an ordered Banach space with a normal cone and \(-A\) be the generator of a positive \(C_0\)-semigroup \(( S( t) ) _{t\geq 0}\) on \(E\). Write \([\underline{u},\overline{u}]:=\{u\in E\colon\underline{u}\leq u\leq\overline{u}\}\) for \(\underline {u}\), \(\overline {u}\in E\) with \(\underline{u}\leq\overline{u}\). Let \(F:[\underline{u},\overline{u}]\to E\) be quasi-increasing and \(u_0\in[\underline{u},\overline{u}]\). The semilinear Cauchy problem \N\[\N\dot{u}(t)+Au(t)=F(u(t)) \ \ (t>0), \quad u(0)=u_0\N\]\Nis investigated in the paper. Results about the existence and comparison of mild solutions, and the convergence of mild solutions as \(t\to \infty\) of the Cauchy problem are obtained by using a fixed point argument, the monotone iteration technique and other techniques, where the mild solution is a function \(u\in C( [ 0, \infty ) , [ \underline {u}, \overline {u}] )\) such that \N\[\Nu(t)=S(t)u_0+\int_0^tS(t-s)F(u(s))\:ds\N\]\Nfor all \(t\geq 0.\)
