Some properties of linear systems defined over a commutative Banach algebra
The paper deals with infinite dimensional linear systems \(\dot x=Ax+ Bu\), \(y= Cx\) where \(x\in X\), \(u\in U\) and \(y\in Y\) with \(X\), \(U\) and \(Y\) commutative Hermitian Banach algebras. It is shown that in this case, results on observability and controllability are equivalent to the case where \(X\), \(Y\) and \(U\) are Hilbert-spaces. This implies that in this setting, observability resp. controllability may be expressed as the left-invertibility resp. right-invertibility of a certain associated operator.
