Maximal regularity with weights for parabolic problems with inhomogeneous boundary conditions (Q1987645): Difference between revisions

The author proves maximal \(L^q-L^p\) regularity in weighted spaces for systems of parabolic equations with the coefficients of the elliptic part satisfying a Lopatinskii-Shapiro type condition and inhomogeneous boundary conditions. The equations are \[ \partial_t u(x, t) + \mathcal{A}(x, D, t) u(x,t) = f(x, t), x \in \mathcal{O}, t \in J, \] \[ \mathcal{B}_j(x^{\prime}, D, t) u(x^{\prime}, t) = g_j(x^{\prime}, t), x^{\prime} \in \partial \mathcal{O}, t \in J, j = 1, \ldots, n \] \[ u(x, 0) = u_0(x), x \in \mathcal{O}. \] Here \(J\) is a finite time interval, \(\mathcal{O} \subset \mathbb{R}^d\) is a smooth domain with compact boundary \(\partial \mathcal{O}\), and the coefficients \(\mathcal{A}, \mathcal{B}_j . j = 1, \ldots, n, \) are \(\mathcal{B}(X)\)-valued operators, where \(X\) is a UMD space. He assumes an ellipticity condition and a condition of Lopatinskii-Shapiro type on \(\{ \mathcal{A}, \mathcal{B}_j, j = 1, \ldots, n \}\). Maximal regularity looks for a solution \(u\) in \[ W^1_q(J, L^p(\mathcal{O}; X) \cap L^p(J, W^{2n}_p(\mathcal{O}; X)), \] or, more precisely, the problem has maximal \(L^q-L^p\) regularity if there is a space \[\mathcal{D}_{i.b.} \subset L^q(J, L^p(\partial \mathcal{O}; X) \cap L^p(\mathcal{O}: X)) \] such that for any \(f \in L^q(J; L^p(\mathcal{O}; X))\), there is a unique solution \(u\) in the above space for every \(g = ((g_1, \ldots, g_n), u_0) \in \mathcal{D}_{i..b.}\). The maximal regularity problem for this system consists of establishing maximal regularity and determining explicitly the space \(\mathcal{D}_{i.b.}\). It's proof makes it possible to derive results for nonlinear problems by reducing to the linearized form above. The author establishes maximal regularity, but where previous results often required \(q \leq p \) or \(q = p\), he proves maximal regularity for \(p, q \in (1, \infty)\). He also allows power weights, powers of \(t\) in time and of \(dist(x, \partial \mathcal{O})\) in space. His approach is to write the intersection spaces as anisotropic mixed norm spaces on \(J \times \mathcal{O}\) or on \(J \times \partial \mathcal{O}\), in order to use known trace theorems in these spaces. He also proves some new trace theorems, building on his master's thesis [Parabolic initial-boundary value problems with inhomogeneous data: a weighted maximal regularity approach.
