Consider the planar system \[ \begin{aligned} {dx\over dt} &= x^2+ xy+ y,\\ {dy\over dt} &= ax^2+ bxy+ cy^2+\alpha x+\beta y,\end{aligned}\tag{\(*\)} \] where \(a\), \(b\), \(c\), \(\alpha\), \(\beta\) are real parameters. It is well-known that any planar polynomial system with maximal degree two can be reduced to the form \((*)\). The authors describe an algorithm to construct regions in the parameter space of dimensions three and four to which there correspond systems \((*)\) possessing four limit cycles. Computations are performed using MAPLE and MATLAB software packages.
