The author exhibits a 4-dimensional family of complex projective \(K3\) surfaces having finite-dimensional motive in the sense of \textit{S.-I. Kimura} [Math. Ann. 331, No. 1, 173--201 (2005; Zbl 1067.14006)]. In particular, the generic member of the family provides an example of a \(K3\) surface of Picard rank 16 whose motive is finite-dimensional. Kimura's notion of finite-dimensionality has become central to the theory of algebraic cycles on smooth projective varieties, in that it provides some structure in the seemingly abysmal gap there is between rational equivalence and numerical equivalence of cycles. The 4-dimensional family considered in this paper was previously studied by \textit{A. Garbagnati} and \textit{A. Sarti} in [``Kummer surfaces and \(K3\) surfaces with \((\mathbb Z/ 2\mathbb Z)^4\) symplectic action'', \url{arXiv:1305.3514}, to appear in Rocky Mountain Journal of Math.], and the authors shows together with previous results of \textit{K. Paranjape} [Compos. Math. 68, No. 1, 11--22 (1988; Zbl 0715.14037)] that the motive of the generic member \(X\) of the family belongs to the subcategory of motives ``generated'' by curves, and hence is finite-dimensional. As an interesting application of the proof of the main result, the author obtains that for any two zero-cycles \(a\) and \(a'\) in \(A^2(X)\) of degree \(0\) one has \(a\times a' = a'\times a\) in \(A^4(X\times X)\), where \(A^i(-)\) denotes the Chow group of codimension-\(i\) cycles.
