This fundamental survey is devoted to an old and famous problem in mechanics, namely the three-body problem. This problem is considered from the points of view of contact and symplectic geometries and Hamiltonian dynamics. The set of known and very important results for the circular restricted case of the three-body problem (and some particular subcases) are presented. Note that the most important results are revisited by using modern techniques, such as recent results coming from holomorphic curves, Hofer-Wysocki-Zehnder theory, fixed-point theory of Hamiltonian twist maps, etc. The references list contains 130 classical and modern works on the subject.
