This work is devoted to obtain stability results of the approximate hyperplane series property (AHSp) under appropriate sums of Banach spaces. For a Banach space \(Y\), the AHSp characterizes the fact that the pair \((\ell_1,Y)\) satisfies the Bishop-Phelps-Bollobás property [\textit{M. D. Acosta} et al., J. Funct. Anal. 254, No. 11, 2780--2799 (2008; Zbl 1152.46006)]. So the present work lies in the line of research studying the possibility of having a quantitative version of the Bishop-Phelps theorem in the vector-valued setting, which is measured by the Bishop-Phelps-Bollobás property. There are two main results in the paper under review. The first one shows that the absolute sum of two spaces has the AHSp if (and only if) the two summands do. In the second one, it is proven that the sum of a family of Banach spaces satisfying the approximate hyperplane property uniformly (a stronger property than the AHSp) satisfies the AHSp, provided that the sum is done under a Banach lattice with the AHSp which is uniformly monotone. The authors also give a partial converse to the last result showing that its hypotheses are reasonable.
