An ellipsoid is an important object in convex geometry, which provides the optimal solution in many extremal problems. Many famous ellipsoids have been found, such as the John ellipsoid, the Löwner ellipsoid, the LYZ ellipsoid, and so on. \textit{E. Lutwak} et al. introduced \(L_p\) John ellipsoids in their groundbreaking paper [Proc. Lond. Math. Soc. (3) 90, No. 2, 497--520 (2005; Zbl 1074.52005)] which can be viewed as a bridge connecting many known ellipsoids. In the paper under review, the authors study the variation formula for the integral \(L_p\) affine surface area with respect to the \(L_p\) Blaschke combination, and it is named as the mixed integral \(L_p\) affine surface area. Then, they study an extremal problem involving this newly notation. Their result extend the work of Lutwak et al. [loc. cit.].
