Let \(X_1,\dots,X_k\) be quasi-Banach spaces and \((\Omega,\Sigma,\mu)\) a non-atomic \(\sigma\)-finite measure space. A function \(f\) belongs to \(L_0(d\mu)\) iff \(|f(\omega)|<+\infty\) for almost all \(\omega\in\Omega\). The topology of \(L_0\) is defined by convergence in measure. A function \(f\) belongs to \(L_{p,\infty}\) iff \(\| f\|_{p,\infty}= \sup_{\alpha>0} \alpha\mu(\{|f|\}> \alpha)^{1/p}<+\infty\). The main result is the following. Let \(0< p_1,\dots, p_k\leq 2\), \(1/p= 1/p_1+\cdots+ 1/p_k\) and \(X_i\) have type \(p_i\) for each \(1\leq i\leq k\). If \(T: (X_1,\dots, X_k)\to L_0\) is a \(k\)-sublinear operator continuous at zero, then \(T\) strongly factors through \(L_{p,\infty}\). This theorem, combined with various results of other authors, allows to obtain improvements of known results for sublinear and bilinear operators and also applications to general translation invariant operators and to a.e. convergence of the Fourier series of a product of \(k\geq 1\) functions defined on the \(n\)-dimensional torus.
