The author constructs new examples of Calabi-Yau orbifolds and constructs their Euler characteristics, giving values ranging from 30 to 219. The construction goes as follows: First consider a \(K3\) surface \(S\) which admits a non-symplectic automorphism \(\rho\) of order 3, i.e. the action of \(\rho\) is non-trivial on \(H^{2,0}(S)\). There are only finitely many such \(\rho\), which have all been classified and their fixed loci determined explicitly. The author then considers the quotient of \(S\times \mathbb P^1\) by \(\rho\times\psi\) with quotient map \(p:S\times\mathbb P^1\to Z\), where \(\psi:\mathbb P^1\to\mathbb P^1\) acts by scaling the complex coordinate \(z\) on \(\mathbb P^1\) by a factor of \(\zeta_3^2\), where of course \(\zeta_3=\exp(\frac{2\pi i}{3})\). The author then takes a partial crepant resolution \(\phi:X_0\to Z\) to obtain an orbifold with only \(\frac{1}{3}(2,2,1)\) and \(\frac{1}{3}(1,0,1)\) singularities. Finally, he takes a 3-fold ramified cover \(\pi:X\to X_0\) branched along the divisor \(D_0=\phi^{-1}(p(S\times z))\) for \(z\in\mathbb P^1\backslash\{0,\infty\}\). This ramified cover corresponds to the line bundle \(\mathcal L=\mathcal O_{X_0}(D_0)\otimes \omega_{X_0}\). The technical heart of the paper is Theorem 3.3, where the author shows that \(\mathcal L^{\otimes 3}\cong \mathcal O_{X_0}(D_0)\) and that \(\omega_X\) is trivial, with subtleties due to the orbifold structure. In the final section, the author traces through the Euler characteristic through the construction and computes it for each of the Calabi-Yau orbifolds constructed. This gives 10 distinct values for the Euler characteristic.
